A SINGING postman has received a music award on the web.
Dean Farnell, of South Road, Weston, sent off his CD 'Why don't Christmas Go Away (I'm bored with the Wizard of Oz)' to a number of radio stations and record companies after he was exclusively featured in the Weston & Somerset Mercury.
After recording the CD, the 45-year-old created his own music cover montage using images of himself, characters of the Wizard of Oz and speech bubbles. He then used a digital camera to take a picture of it.
The singer and songwriter, who also made his CD available to download from www.iTunes.com, decided to check out his progress by putting his name in to internet search engine Google.
Dean discovered he had won a New Media Art Award by an American site which also provided a link to download his song.
The song tells the tale of a man who is sick of Christmas.
Dean said: "I am delighted that an American site has spotted and taken note of my work.
"I have written a number of other songs including my own version of The Twelve Days of Christmas which I hope to record and release next year.
