Hatfield postman completes London Marathon in honour of his dad

A Hatfield man kept running during the London Marathon as he was cheered on by his dad who has cancer.

Dan Bisby, 28, who is a postman in Hatfield, ran for the charity Leukaemia Care which is very close to his heart after his dad Andy was diagnosed with the disease in June 2016.

He had chemo in the September for six months and by May 2017 had the amazing news that he was in remission.

Unfortunately by November after attending one of his regular check ups, he was told that his white blood cell count had become low again and he’s now undergoing more treatment.

Dan, who was born in Hatfield and attended Onslow St Audrey’s School, said: “My dad was there cheering me on with my friends and family and that kept me going.

“Every time I’d hit a wall I’d just think of seeing them at the next stop.


“My dad’s very proud and we’re so proud of him for being so brave.”

Dan also put finishing the marathon down to his girlfriend Jo who kindly trained with him.
