I hope that the people accusing her of leaving the keys in the ignition are wrong! If they are right, then she won't only be facing the sack, but the wrath of the locals. Which would be particularly sad, as she wouldn't be the first motorist to do so.

i was in for my 'dismissal interview' yesterday i was in the canteen looking out the window and saw an RM van with the side door open a tray of mail fell out the van

I notice a lot of the comments have little sympathy, only a few remember that to err is human - we all make mistakes, no matter what walk in life you have, usually the results of those mistakes are inconsequential, but sometimes they are not......for those that condemn what has happened, I hope karma catches up with them & I'd love to know how they would cope in similar circumstances. I for one have had it happen to me, and I got sacked for the priviledge of telling the truth. Life goes on ( a bit like my posts ), and to the postwoman concerned, I hope she is treated fairly by her screws and IB - Onward and upward!

i know of a office that had three hired vehicles stolen, but no one was sacked. one of the vehicles being a 12 grand landrover.

yes we all make errors so those who find this funny may not do one day.

Yes, I hope she's OK too.
However, I have no faith in RM & as they seem to be looking to get rid of people for any reason I'm sure they will see this as a cheap way of replacing her with a part-timer.
Hope I'm wrong, though.

totally agree.from what i see RM will take any chance they can to sack a full timer and save on VR plus get a part timer in

I don't see anything funny about it at all.

Because of the time of year, there is likely to have been Christmas Cards and Presents in that van. So if I was her, I'd be more worried about the locals than RM.

It's a sad fact, but people are far from tolerant at times like this. They just see the problems that were caused, instead of bearing in mind that we ALL make mistakes. Hence the term "Human Error".

We don't even know wether the keys were left in or not!

At the moment, it is still speculation. Even if she DID leave them in, haven't we all made stupid mistakes at some point or other?

I just hope that the locals are more understanding than I think they will be.
