Fundraising page set up after postman Vince Marsh hit by suspected drink-driver

The family of a postman who suffered serious injuries after being hit by a suspected drink-driver are raising funds for the air ambulance which went to his aid.

Vince Marsh, of Birchington, was out delivering when he was struck by a car in Margate on Saturday.

His family say they want to raise funds for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust to show their "deepest thanks".

Mr Marsh's family said: "The idea came up because of the local community and people who Vince delivered to wanted to do something for him.

"When we was asked about it we wanted it any money raised to go to the air ambulance as we wanted to show our deepest thanks to what they did for him and the incredible work they do every day."

His son says there is still no indication of when his dad may be out of hospital.

Paramedics and the air ambulance were called to College Road in Margate on Saturday morning.

Mr Marsh had to be airlifted to King's College Hospital in London, where he remains in a serious condition.

The 59-year-old suffered a head injury, deep cuts, a fractured eye socket, four broken ribs, bruising and cuts all over, as well as a broken leg and shattered knee cap.

A 43-year-old woman from Margate was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has since been released pending further enquiries.
