Woman arrested over drink-driving after postman on rounds knocked down

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a postman was hit by a car while on his rounds.

The man in his 50s was delivering post in College Road, Margate, at just after 10.40am on Saturday when the crash occurred, Kent Police said.

He was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London with serious injuries.

A 43-year-old woman is in custody, police said.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman confirmed one of its postmen had been injured on duty, adding: "The safety and well-being of our people is always our first priority.

"We are working with the police to understand what happened and will support our colleague in recovery."

The road was closed while investigations were carried out and re-opened at 2.40pm.

Hans Solo, althou some of what you say I can relate too, please be a bit more tactful with your remarks, we are talking about a work colleague who is critically ill and has family that need support at this time

He hasn't said anything disrespectful about an injured colleague, he was just being cynical ,as we all can be at times like this. Lighten up a bit.

Nevertheless what Glenno said is very good advice. In this case, I have deleted a single last extraneous expletive, one we all think but it is best not to post.
