Two men have been arrested after a police helicopter chased a stolen Royal Mail van from Tonbridge to London.

Kent Police was called at 3.56pm yesterday (July 15) to a report of a burglary in Sovereign Way, Tonbridge.

A police helicopter and officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to help stop the vehicle.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 3.56pm on Saturday, July 15 to a report of a burglary in Sovereign Way, Tonbridge.

"Officers attended and a vehicle believed to be involved was identified on the A21 which failed to stop when requested to do so.

"Police pursued the vehicle along with support from the police helicopter and officers from the Metropolitan Police and it was bought to a safe stop in Wharf Street in London."

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving. A second man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Both men remain in custody.

No, overnight retention still going strong here.

But we always lock them and keep the keys safe.
