Royal Mail plc announces appointment of Stuart Simpson as Chief Finance Officer

The Board of Royal Mail plc (RMG.L) today announces that Stuart Simpson, Director of Group Finance, will be appointed Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and join the Royal Mail Board. Stuart's appointment follows a comprehensive search that included both internal and external candidates.

Stuart will report to Moya Greene, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and will take up his new post at the conclusion of the Company's Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on Thursday 20 July 2017. In December 2016, Matthew Lester, the current CFO, informed the Board of his intention to step down from the Board following the Company's 2017 AGM, and confirmed that he would not be standing for re-election.

Stuart joined Royal Mail in 2009. He was appointed as Director of Group Finance in July 2015. Prior to this, he was Deputy Chief Operations Officer and has been a member of the Chief Executive's Committee since 2014. He has also held senior operational and finance positions within the Royal Mail's core UK business. Before joining the Company, he worked in the automotive industry where he held senior roles in both finance and strategy, based in the UK and internationally. Stuart is a chartered accountant.
