Royal Mail rolls out online parcel delivery confirmation across UK

Royal Mail is now making online delivery confirmation available to customers purchasing parcels at all Post Office branches across the UK.

In an article posted on its myroyalmail website, Royal Mail said that is the service becomes UK-wide today (27 March).

The myroyalmail notice added: “As well as providing tracking on our Royal Mail Tracked and Special Delivery Guaranteed, we’re now giving customers’ visibility of delivery confirmation on standard First and Second Class parcels.

“We’ve already rolled-out this service to our account customers. But from today (27 March) we are introducing online delivery confirmation for all Post Office parcels with Horizon labels.”

I estimate 10% of the labels don't scan. Either creased when stuck on, half-printed due to faulty equipment, smudged, printed on gold stickers which won't scan, stuck on non-flat surfaces like poster tubes or awkward jiffy envelopes.

You can't really advertise a product on this basis.

Anyone else notice. Some don't even have the 2D barcode. All they have is the number. Have tried putting this number in manually and it works. Happened about half dozen times now.

Hmm I can see some customers will be unhappy due to the issue of packets being unscannable at point of delivery for all the reasons mentioned in this thread. As to the % of items that fall into this category perhaps 5-10%?
