Although many Britons enjoy banking online, nine out of ten people would prefer to receive their bank statements through the post, a new study has concluded.
Research conducted by the Henley Centre in association with Royal Mail has found even among those who bank online, 68 per cent would rather receive their details through their door.
The study also claimed that seven out of ten people trust the post more than email.
Abi Wood, head of financial marketing at Royal Mail, said: "Posted statements remain important to people for their accessibility and security. They can be filed and retained for future reference, and are of course not reliant on access to an internet connection."
She agreed that the internet offered users greater accessibility but called upon banks to examine the complimentary roles different channels could play for "the modern consumer".
Earlier this year, Jim Spowart, chairman of price comparison site Peopleschampion.com, urged banks to provide both online and telephone services in order to fully support the consumer."

My credit card provider wrote me a letter telling me I will no longer receive paper statements.
A week later I received junk mail with blank cheques and get mail most weeks from them promoting some scheme or other.
British Gas are going towards paperless billing and yet I delivered D2D's for every house on my walk from them last week.
They say one thing and do another a bit like the screws really.

re: Different departments
D2D will be sent by Marketing. Your statements come via Finance/Billing. May as well be seperate companies. The only cross-over is probably their branding department.
Crazy I know, but that's the nature of large corporations. Just look at the government. Encourage Royal Mail to efficient and then encourages their own departments to go with competitors.
