Three post bags are missing after a Royal Mail van was stolen in Bishop's Stortford...

The van was taken from outside the Post Office in Snowley Parade at 5.30pm on December 7th, but Police have only just released the details.

It was later found at the bowls club in Beldams Lane, where it had been abandoned.

Royal Mail is apologising to customers who may have been affected and they're urged anyone with concerns to get in touch.

PC Neil Randall from Hertfordshire Police said: "I am appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious outside the Post Office last Wednesday evening or saw the Royal Mail van being driven erratically to contact me via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101.

I'd also urge anyone who sent mail via the Post Office in Snowley Parade after midday on the day of the offence to contact the recipients to check if they received the item. If they haven't received the items please contact Royal Mail".

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: "The safety and security of mail is of the utmost importance to this business and Royal Mail is working closely with the police to investigate this incident.

We apologise to customers who may have been affected and we would advise them to contact our customer service team on 03457 740 740 if they have any queries about their mail".
