ROYAL Mail bosses say they have still not decided if the delivery and sorting offices in Atherton and Tyldesley are to close despite claims to the contrary on social media.
The postal service company confirmed in March that it was looking into the possibility of closing the two sites and relocating the services to Wardley in Swinton, but stressed that there were also other options available.
Tyldesley residents have claimed on social media that the closures have been given the go-ahead and that they have received failed delivery notices telling them to collect parcels from their nearest post office, in Wardley.
However a Royal Mail spokesman said: “Royal Mail is continuing to discuss the proposal to relocate Tyldesley and Atherton delivery offices to Manchester north west delivery office with our people and our unions.
“No final decision has been made in relation to the proposal.”
