Denis was raising funds for a cancer charity after his colleague of 25 years died of cancer and his wife was diagnosed with the disease
Denis' colleagues took it in turn to wax his chest for £1
It is the expression of someone in tremendous pain but postman Denis Dodson braved a full chest wax - performed by his colleagues - to raise money in memory of his close friend.
Earlier this year, Denis' colleague of 25 years, Andrew Roberts, died after battling with stomach cancer.
And just a couple of months ago, his wife, Debra, was diagnosed with lung cancer.
So when his manager at Merthyr Tydfil's Royal Mail sorting office suggested a waxing session as part of their bid to raise money for Macmillan in memory of Andrew, he jumped at the chance.
"We worked together for around 25 years so I really wanted to do this for Andrew," 49-year-old Denis, from Penydarren, explained.
"We were around the same age and when you work with someone so closely for that long, they're not just your colleague but your friend as well.
"Then my wife was diagnosed with lung cancer a couple of months ago and she's going through treatment at the moment."
A number of colleagues went under the hot wax, some choosing to have their legs or eyebrows done, but Denis opted for a more delicate full chest wax.

His aunt, who works as a beautician, attended the event to provide the wax and waxing strips and to start the session.
But for £1 for the charity, any of the postmen could have a go at waxing a patch of Denis' chest.
He said: "It was quite painful in places and when my colleagues found out they could do it for £1, they all jumped in."
Denis' expression said it all as he screamed in pain when his colleagues ripped off the hair.
Denis and Debra's sons, 18-year-old Bradley and 16-year-old Ryan, also went along to the sorting office to see their dad become bare chested.
Denis said they are now hoping to organise a charity event in the coming months to add to the total raised.
Through the Braving the Shave campaign session and various other fundraising events, including coffee mornings, Merthyr Tydfil's Royal Mail have managed to raise an impressive £2,000.
And as part of the same campaign, a lifestyle assistant at Greenhill Manor Care Home in Merthyr will be shaving her hair this Friday.
Leanne Fry, 37, who got married last week, has already raised more than £610 of her £1,000 target for Macmillan and will be donating her 13 inches-long hair to the Little Princess Trust - a charity which makes wigs for children with cancer.
Leanne said: "Having lost family members to this horrific disease and residents from the care home I work in, I want to do something for them but also for the survivors of cancer."
