Garth Linham: Somerton to fall silent for much-loved postman

A minute's silence and balloon release will be held at Somerton Sports Club tonight (Thursday, July 21) to pay tribute to a man close to the hearts of many in the town.

Popular postman Garth Linham, who died at the weekend aged 57, will be remembered by the club where he enjoyed spending much of his time.

There will be a football match in his memory at 7pm with a minute's silence due to take place before kick-off.

Garth was known to many in Somerton having worked for the Royal Mail for about 30 years. He was also a well-known figure in the darts and football community and a regular at the town's sport's club.
