Postman leaves St Davids round

POPULAR St Davids postman Chris Morgan is leaving his round in Wales’s smallest city to take up new ones in the Castlemorris area.

The postie’s departure brings to an end 34 years’ service in the city where he has become a well-known figure.

“I started in St Davids as a young and fit 21-year-old with a thick head of hair,” he said.

“Now, at 55, I’m not so young-looking, not quite so fit and have very little hair!”

When he started work in St Davids in 1982, Chris was trained by the late Mike Thompson, himself a well-known city character.

A big sports fan who for many years played football for Solva AFC, Chris also enjoys golf and squash.

He said that being a postman in St Davids was a rare privilege, that his customers have become his friends and that many of their children are now parents themselves.

Chris is married to Janet and the couple – who have a son Simon and daughter Rachel - recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
