Four taken to hospital after hazmat leak at sorting office in Langley

Post office workers in Langley were taken to hospital after an unknown hazardous material leaked from a package.

Firefighters were called to the Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre (HWDC) in Sutton Lane at about 6.30pm yesterday (Friday) after something from a package being sorted there leaked onto the hands of four staff.

Engines from Slough, Langley, Windsor and two from London attended along with a special hazardous material vehicle.

Three females and one male were taken to Wexham Park Hospital as a precaution after being treated on the scene. All four have now been discharged.

Thames Valley Police also attended the scene to manage the road closure, but said ‘from a police perspective, there is no evidence of criminality’.

The incident is being investigated by Royal Mail.
