COSHESTON postman Tim Phillips has earned an impressive number of nominations to win the Cosheston Community Spirit Award, set up by the local community council.
Kind words, and even poetry, flowed from residents to describe Tim’s work and support for the community: “our pot of gold”, “a loyal watchdog” and a “postman par excellence” were just some of the comments.
Tim who lives with his wife Sue in Michaels Walk, has worked for the Post Office for 35 years, 18 of those in Cosheston.
“There are some great characters in the village and I believe in having a laugh or at least a smile along the way,” said Tim.
Memorable moments doing his job are many, said Tim who is quietly reserved. Nevertheless, he did divulge one occasion in the village when he knocked on a door to deliver a parcel and was greeted by a lady wearing a red and white basque and black fishnet tights.
Tim will be presented with an engraved glass plaque by Cosheston Community Council Chairman George Allingham in recognition of his work and support to the community.
