AN ADMINISTRATIVE error has been blamed for 200 of Visit Isle of Wight D-BID proposals being sent out without enough enough postage on them.
It led to the tourism organisation’s chief executive issuing an apology for those getting the draft document receiving demands for £1.50 from the Royal Mail.
David Thornton advised businesses not to collect the envelopes from the post office and pay the excess charge but to notify jo@visitwight.org or telephone 01983 521555 ext 21.
He said refunds would be arranged for those who had already paid and fresh documents would be sent out to those who had not.
A total of 1,200 documents were mailed with the correct postage after the mistake was spotted and Visit Isle of Wight said it had learned from the mistake.
D-BID aims to raise funds from tourism businesses to fund Visit Isle of Wight.
