Merseyside Police officers are appealing for people to be vigilant around Royal Mail post boxes in the Southport area after a number of them were targeted by thieves last night (Wednesday, March 23).
This follows thefts from mail boxes in locations across the town including: High Park Place, Knowsley Road, Chestnut Street and Tithebarn Road.
Officers are now urging people to take anything valuable they wish to post to one of the post offices in the town.
A Southport police spokesman said: “If anyone is seen acting suspiciously near to post boxes please report to Police via 999 emergency or 101 non emergency.
“If anyone has information regarding these crimes please telephone Merseyside Police on 101 or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Residents are advised to be careful posting valuable items and to consider sending such items via a post office.”
