YBS are preparing for a new project which will see the design, procurement and installation of mechanical and electrical building services for a new mail centre in Portsmouth.

The works are due to commence in April and are for one of their existing, major clients and will utilise energy saving, cost saving and planning initiatives, with the finished project providing a fantastic environment in which to process mail for Portsmouth and surrounding area.

Cosham will be going in there too.

Starting in April then - this was when the new DO was scheduled to open so it's well behind then. Shame that the only updates we seem to be getting are from an outside contractor, not RM or CWU

If this new office was due to open in April then it looks like the
World Class Mail mob have something to do with it already

It's a big mess. The distribution drivers are still supposed to be going to SOMC by 18 April, but their 1 to 1s have only just started. Some were suposed to be going to the new DO, but this isn't the case now. The new DO should be open in September so that's when we're moving. Don't know about Cashco. The rush to get the distribution drivers out of Pompey must be related to guvnors bonuses - no other reason.

POMC no longer exists and I personally find it very distressing that a posting could be put on the forum with such a title.

Us Pompey RM people don't seem to have had much support from this forum. Don't know why, but you'll feel the same when your MC/DO goes!

Very interesting, particularly parking for several 600s and very annoying that RM and to a certain extent CWU think they have a right to keep this information secret

Look like it's being set up possibly for one wave of mail, otherwise what else would it need a bay for an artic. I wouldn't be surprised to see the CSS machines get moved to SO MC in the long term - could any other DO covering an adjacent PO postcode area be squeezed into the space taken up by the CSS machines?

I would. They've just spent a load of money and a lot of effort moving SO's CSSs into Eastleigh to free up space in SOMC, so why would anyone consider moving the PO CSS's back into SOMC?

Why would they move PO's CSS machines anywhere outside of the PO area?

It's going to come down to if RM buy XMS machines, if they do, then the CSS machines will be redundant anyway. I'd be surprised if RM don't get XMS machines for every MC eventually, it'd mean lots of savings for them

That may well be the case in future as the CSS project hasn't worked out as planned, but that wasn't what you posted, which was to do with moving PO CSSs into SOMC at some point.
