Poundbury set for first Post Office

POUNDBURY is set to get its first Post Office.

The post office will be located at Buttermarket Stores, on Butter Market and will open on Wednesday, March 16 at 1pm.

The convenience store opened in the town four months ago and the Post Office has now announced that it will be setting up there to serve the people of Poundbury.

The Post Office said that it recognised a gap as the nearest branch is a mile away in Dorchester.

Julia Marwood, post office regional network manager, said: “We recognised the gap in our existing Post Office branch network and are delighted to be opening a brand new local branch, with extended opening hours and a Sunday service, to meet the needs of the Poundbury community.

“This new branch is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.”
