Forget the calendar girls, Morecambe now has its own Postie Boys.
The first-class males have been snapped near the town’s famous landmarks with next to nothing on but it’s all for a good cause, a cancer charity.
The Morecambe Mailmen calendar 2016 is the brainchild of a woman who has first-hand experience of losing someone close to cancer.
Vicky Mount lost her friend Karen at the age of 40 to ovarian cancer, which was diagnosed at Stage 3.
Vicky said: “Karen was diagnosed with IBS for 18 months until she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She spent her last holiday with her husband and died a few months later.
“Ovarian cancer is more common in the over 55s. People know very little about, it’s signs and symptoms and you think it can be picked up on a smear but it isn’t, hence the name Silent Killer.
“I managed to get together a cracking bunch of lads from Morecambe post office who very kindly agreed to wear very little and have photos taken with many local landmarks for my calendar. Any money I make will be donated directly to The Eve Appeal.”
The calendar will be launched at Morecambe Cricket Club on Friday, November 13. 7.30pm, £2 entry on the door. There will be entertainment and the calendars will be on sale at £5 each.
The posties will be on hand to sign the calendars.
