Luis Hamdy, eight, of Navigation Close, fulfilled his desire to have a go at being a postman.
A RUNCORN youngster’s dream of becoming a postman came true for a day as a treat before he has an operation.
Luis Hamdy, eight, of Navigation Close, was given his own bag and identity badge by Royal Mail staff from the Crown Gate delivery office, who also took him out to do a round including down his own street.
Little Luis delighted post men with his eagerness to follow in their footsteps and enjoy a job that includes walking in the open air.
Tommy Waring, one of the staff who helped to organise the day, said the youngster’s eyes had lit up when he was presented with his own gear at Our Lady Mother Of The Saviour Catholic Primary School.

He said the moment was especially moving because Luis, who has epilepsy, is due to visit hospital soon for surgery.
Luis, who is named after former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, said: “I’m obsessed with post men. I always watch them on Saturdays and when I’m off school.
“I’ve got my bag now. It’s great.”
Speaking before the visit, Tommy said: “We’re going to show him round and let him throw a bit of the mail in.
“He’s a lovely little fella and we got him a little bag and we got him a little identity badge made and we’re hoping to print him a T-shirt.
“We took the bag with his name on it into school to give to him and the teacher broke down because she could see the elation on his face.”
