POLICE have issued a CCTV image as part of an investigation into a parcel delivery type scam in the Burton area.
The suspects are believed to be responsible for incidents in Merlin Crescent, Branston, on March 31; Mayfield Drive, Burton, on March 30, and Craythorne Road, Stretton, on April 9.
The suspects were captured on camera in the Burton area and are described as two white men aged in their 20s.
One is 5ft 10ins, has short black hair and wears a dark top featuring the logo First Class Delivery, dark trousers and tan boots or trainers. The second is 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build and wears a parka-style faded jacket, blue jeans and black trainers.
The appeal follows our earlier warnings to residents after several incidents in the past few months where a man posing as a parcel delivery driver has tricked residents into giving their card details.
Reports have been received in the south of the county, including Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth, but the offender/s could strike anywhere. Generally the victims are elderly and live alone. Please advise your neighbours, friends and relatives so they don't fall victim to this scam.
The crime is carried out by a parcel delivery driver wearing a convincing uniform who claims there is an outstanding delivery charge for a parcel which must be paid by card. They ask the householder to use a chip and PIN device while they watch.
The payment fails and the card reader is taken, complete with card, to the driver's van to be removed using a special tool and is never returned. Equipped with the card and pin the driver can help themselves to the victim's bank account.
Officers are urging people to be on their guard, not to use their debit cards to pay fees for any unexpected parcels, and to report any suspicious activity immediately by ringing 101 or 999 in an emergency.
