A POSTMAN carried out his last round in Hereford after clocking up four decades of service.

Guy Lewis finished on the weekend after working for Royal Mail for 42 years.

Those living around Broomy Hill and Westfaling Street know Guy well as he has delivered to those homes for 41 years – and become more than just a postman.

One resident, Catherine Troke, said: "Acts of kindness like cutting an old lady's hedge (from his round) on his day off deserves commendation, he certainly gave of his best and went the 'extra mile'.

"He has been a pleasure to know; we wish him all the best and thank him very much.

"He hasn't just been a postman to people he has been a friend."
