Postman discovered body outside Fraserburgh leisure centre

A man’s body was discovered outside a north-east leisure centre yesterday.

It is understood a local postman called the emergency services after making the grim discovery during his morning deliveries.

Police officers quickly cordoned off a large area at the rear of Fraserburgh Leisure Centre.

Last night, the man’s death was being treated as “unexplained”.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Police were called following the discovery of the body of a male outside Fraserburgh Leisure Centre in the Northlinks area. We were called at around 8.45am.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are underway.

“As is the case with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”

Fraserburgh Leisure Centre is in the east of the fishing town near the harbour area. Last night bosses declined to comment.

The discovery was the second of its kind in the town this year.

In March the body of 72-year-old William Fraser was found in a lane near Fraserburgh’s Lochpots Primary School.

After dialling 999, local labourer Marc Hornal made a desperate attempt to revive Mr Fraser, who was found only yards from his home.

The circumstances surrounding the OAP’s death were not treated as suspicious.
