A BURGLAR is starting a four-year jail sentence after a postman spotted him leaping out of a window.
Albert Todd (pictured) denied burgling a house in Tilehurst but was found guilty by a jury at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday last week.
A judge immediately jailed the 44-year-old, of no fixed abode, for four years.
Todd was spotted by a postman delivering mail in Kiln Lane at around 10.50am on Tuesday, July 1, jumping from a first floor window above a ladder propped against a wall.
The man fled but was arrested nearby and Todd was charged on Thursday, July 10.
Detective Constable Bethany French, from Local CID, said: “This sentence sends out a message that burglary offences are taken seriously and Thames Valley Police will conduct thorough investigations to ensure every effort is made to bring the offender to justice.”
