Battle to save Ditchling Post Office

The Post Office wants to change the Lewes Road facility into a Post Office Local.

This will mean many of the services, such as accepting cash deposits into bank accounts, payment of bills without a bar code or accepting cheques for payments, will no longer be available in the village, which will impact on the elderly and those without cars.

Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Lewes Maria Caulfield said: “We are urging all residents to sign the petition so that Post Office Officials can see how strongly local people feel about this.”

Lewes District Councillor for Ditchling Tom Jones added: “One of the options the Post Office has not looked at is that of retaining the Post Office in Ditchling as a Community Post Office which would enable many of the current services to be retained.”
