A FLASHER was ordered to pay £100 to a post woman after he exposed himself to her and shouted “Do you want my package?”

The delivery worker initially thought jobless Dean Robertson was asking her a genuine question when she heard him call out to her in a Bulwell street.

But when she turned and saw that he had exposed himself she told him: “I think you had better put that away for me, duck.”

Robertson was found guilty of indecent exposure at Nottingham Magistrates Court.

Sanjay Jerath, prosecuting, told the court the post woman had contacted her line manager to complain about the incident in Carlin Street on January 14.

The court heard that Robertson, 29, was seen to be touching himself.

Mr Jerath added: “There was no obstruction to her view. Obviously she was not expecting to be subjected to such an act.

“She doesn’t deliver to the road where the defendant lives now due to the incident. She had simply been conducting her duties as she has done for 15 years.”

Helen Rooks, defending, said Robertson had lodged an appeal against the conviction.

“He said it was a case of mistaken identity and that was the nature of the trial. He has no history of doing this sort of thing,” Miss Rooks told the court.

She had questioned the Royal Mail worker during the trial and described her as being “in her forties or fifties and a down to earth character”.

Miss Rooks said: “When asked how she responded, she said surprisingly she was all right and added ‘I was more shocked afterwards’.

She was asked if she had wanted to carry on and said ‘I was fine’.”

As well as the compensation to the woman, Robertson was fined £100 and must pay £100 prosecution costs. He was put on probation for nine months.

Magistrates declined to impose a restraining order which would ban him from contacting the woman.

But presiding JP Geoff Evans, sitting with two other JPs, told Robertson: “If you do come across this post lady again, you must go in the other direction.”
