Look out for Kingsbridge posties who are involved in marathon effort to raise money today

TWO KINGSBRIDGE post office workers will be putting in a first class effort as they run a marathon to raise money for the Stroke Association today.

Gavin Whatley and Lee Hoskin will be running around Kingsbridge and the surrounding area, and will be calling at Salcombe PO, Marlborough PO, Hope Cove PO, Thurlestone PO, St. Ann’s Chapel PO, Aveton Gifford PO, Loddiswell PO, Churchstow PO before heading back to Kingsbridge.

Gavin and Lee both approached Tony Strong, Delivery Office Manager, Kingsbridge to discuss what they could do to raise money for their Charity of the Year, the Stroke Association.

Tony said: “Being in rural Devon, we discussed them running around all of the Post Offices that we serve, and after much planning decided on a 26 mile route, starting at Kingsbridge Delivery Office, with a circular route visiting eight Post Offices.


“They will be supported by various colleagues between these stages. Those that know our area will know this will not be a nice run on tarmac and paving slabs.”

Gavin and Lee added: “We’re up for the challenge for such a good cause, as everyone could possibly be affected by it at some point, whether it’s family, friends or colleagues. We have a great community here in South Devon and all of the staff, and many from our local community will be cheering us on with encouragement.”
