Protect wildlife by reusing your rubber bands

Discarding rubber bands on our streets is harmful to the environment and wildlife, costs money and is damaging to our reputation.

A recent petition against Royal Mail’s use of rubber bands has been signed by more than 23,000 people, and has led to negative media attention about Royal Mail.

It is up to all of us to maintain the excellent reputation we have built within communities across the country.

Please reuse your rubber bands and ensure you don’t drop them on the street.

What you can do

Follow these simple steps to prevent littering, protect the environment and protect our company’s reputation:

Place your used bands in your pouch or pocket when you’re out delivering
Follow the process that’s in place at your office to collect and reuse bands
Encourage others to pick up and reuse bands
Prevent breakages by choosing the right sized band for the bundle or by reducing the bundle size
Pick up rubber bands from the street if you spot discarded ones
Accept rubber bands back from customers.

How about buying decent quality rubber bands,in the first place,if you try to reuse the current crop, they break instantaneously. Mind you they break the first time as well.

If they are reused they are more likely to snap while out on delivery and if I'm honest while I never deliberately discard a rubber band I am f****d if I'm going looking for one that's gone twang and disappeared into the shrubbery.

Bruised arms and faces due to them snapping , only get one boxful every 2 weeks. Why not ask how many snapped ones the cleaner sweeps up in a typical day?
