Royal Mail’s belt-tightening as a quoted company has been extended to the canteen, its annual report has revealed.
The subsidy that the group pays to Quadrant Catering, its joint venture with Compass, fell from £26 million to £22 million. That equates to £148 for each member of its British staff, down 15 per cent on the £173 subsidy last year.

The subsidy will be down to zero soon!, RM don't want you to have a meal break, not in delivery anyway.

Canteen ? You mean the room with a old microwave, and a hot water tap !!! If the mail centre staff get a subsidy to eat why dont DO staff without facilities and subsidies get a tax relief ?

Hot water tap ? We have to make do with a kettle

Management never actively encourage meal reliefs. They are more interested in getting the mail out of the office. Hence the cuts!
