Brazen thief asks postie for mail after loading stolen washing machine into van

A brazen thief stole a washing machine in front of its owner ­– before demanding letters from a passing postman.

The man reversed a white Transit van onto a driveway of a home in Pott Hall Road, West Road at around 10.30am yesterday.

He loaded up a washing machine which was on the drive before being confronted by a female from the house.

The thief swore at her and then asked a postman standing nearby for the post he was carrying.

The postman refused to hand it over.

The man was white, 5ft 8ins tall, in his early 20s, of slim build with blonde hair, and was wearing a white tank top.

Happened to me when I first started the job in a rough area of the city....told him he had three hopes of getting my mail...Bob Hope...Envelope..and no fooking hope.( I was a bit green them days as I had just come out of working in the building trade so didn't really know how to handle the situation correctly).

i'd have him buried under 16 full bags , 100 large packets, 2 trollies and a spare wheel then ring the cops. oh wait a minute that sounds like my daily job!

I doubt he really wanted the post was probably trying to appear like the owner of the house to draw attention away from the fact he was nicking a washing machine (lol?).
