Record-breaking graduates!

For the second year running our Royal Mail graduates have taken part in a Graduate Fundraising Challenge… and they’ve smashed all previous records!

Including matched giving, the 142 graduates raised an amazing £103,017 this year.

Working across the country and in all areas of the business, they joined forces and were asked to raise a minimum of £3,500 per team for our Charity of the Year, Prostate Cancer UK, using fundraising as a way to help with their personal development.

Awards

As well as raising much needed funds, the teams were also competing to win three coveted awards. These were presented by HR director Jon Millidge at an awards ceremony last week.

The award for the team that raised the most money went to graduates working across HR, Logistics and Technology (pictured). Led by Annie Richardson, they raised an incredible £10,616, including matched giving.

Annie says: ‘We really enjoyed the fundraising challenge and working as a team to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

‘It offered a great opportunity to work with other graduates and apprentices from across the company, as well as the many Royal Mail colleagues who supported us along the way.

‘We are really proud of how much we raised for Prostate Cancer UK, and it was a perfect end to the challenge when we found out we’d won the award.’

Outstanding work

Other award winners included graduates from the South West region, who won most outstanding team; while Maria Jones from the South East region took home the prize for most outstanding individual.

The awards were attended by Prostate Cancer UK’s director of fundraising, Mark Bishop who said: ‘Thank you to the 142 Royal Mail graduates, for their astounding fundraising this year.

‘Thanks to them and colleagues, family and friends who supported them, we have increased awareness of prostate cancer amongst one of the largest workforces in the UK.

‘The money raised will make a measurable difference, helping to fund specialist nurses for the men affected by prostate cancer, and their families.’
