Today (Thursday) the whole of SW London walked out on unofficial action.
From what I understand in certain offices management have told union reps,that it no longer recognises the union.
Also workers are being photographed at their bays and photo'd as they move around the office. When they return to their bays they are photo'd again. They even have to ask to go to the toilet.
Is this the modern Royal Mail Leighton and his fellow idiots are driving us towards?

Do I have a right to use the loo during my working day?
The law is currently unclear on this, but you do have a right to take a break for 20 minutes if you work more than 6 hours a day, and therefore do have a clear right to use the toilet during this time, or during a lunch break. The TUC are pressing for legal change to give people the right to use the toilet at other times. An exception to this is if you have a medical condition which necessitates you to take a toilet break at other times. Your employer would not be able to deny you a break in this case.

Does my employer have to provide a toilet where I work?
Yes. Your employer needs to provide at least one toilet for your workplace, and separate toilets for men and women if workers are of both sexes in your workplace. The number of toilets provided is governed by this formula (calculated separately for men and women):
1-5 workers = 1 toilet
6-25 workers = 2 toilets
26-50 workers = 3 toilets
51-75 workers = 4 toilets
76-100 workers = 5 toilets
If different toilets are only to be used by different group of workers in your workplace (eg: office workers and factory workers), the calculation needs to be done separately for each group. If the toilets where you work are also used by members of the public, the number provided needs to be increased so that staff can use them without delay.

You are an adult. You go to work, you do your job. You'd think that going to the loo when you needed to would be part of the deal. Unfortunately, for most workers it is not that simple. Dickensian bathroom break policies, aided by a loo breaks loophole in the law, is putting the health and dignity of Britain's workers at risk. Britain's bad bosses have a dirty secret. They don't think you deserve the right to choose when you need to go to the loo. They don't think toilet breaks should be on the clock. They don't trust you behind closed doors, so they spy on their washrooms. They work you so hard there's no time for breaks.

Sometimes bad management means you can't go; sometimes bad facilities mean you won't go. A November 2002 poll of more than 1,000 staff found over half (54 per cent) of British workers are too busy to take toilet breaks. The Ex-Lax sponsored research also found 1 in 4 were put off by the condition of workplace bathrooms, with almost 1 in 4 (18 per cent) saying there was not enough privacy.
For many others though, it's not a case of "won't go". They work in "can't go" workplaces where the management's penny-pinching Lavatory Lieutenants slam the lid on toilet breaks.

I can certainly assure you that no f***ing way would I be asking for permisssion to use the toilet,we are adults not bairns :cfo :lfo ,go ahead and pee freely!!!!
