Three people have been charged in connection with two robberies in Salford.

A man suffered facial injuries and had his suitcase stolen after an attack by three people as he walked through Ordsall Park at around 11am on Saturday.

Moments later a postman was attacked by three people – believed to be the same three responsible for the earlier attack – as he delivered letters on Hollies Lane, Ordsall.

He was knocked to the ground and assaulted by the gang, who then ran off with his postbag towards Colman Gardens.

Officers identified three people matching descriptions given by the victims and they were arrested nearby.

William Paine, 22, of Irlam Square, Salford, Liam Johnson, 18, of Chancel Avenue, Ordsall and a 17-year-old - who cannot be named for legal reasons - have each been charged with two counts of robbery.

They were due to appear at Salford Magistrates’ Court today.

Anyone who witnessed either incident or has more information, is asked to call police on 0161 856 5361, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
