The donation will help FareShare transport 285 tonnes of food, enough for 680,000 meals nation- wide.
Lily Heinemann, of the Royal Mail Group, said: "We're really pleased to be helping FareShare and the charities it supports.
"We hope our donation will make a difference to commun- ities in Hull, so they can enjoy nutritious meals over the Christmas period."
Lindsay Boswell, FareShare CEO, said: "Thanks to Royal Mail's generous donation, we will be able to transport surplus food to hundreds of local charities."
