The Craigavon Royal Mail community action team has launched its annual Christmas toy appeal, which is traditionally well supported by local people.

Each year the postal staff ask their customers – literally every home in the area – to donate new toys to the appeal, which supports the growing number of children who would otherwise not get any toys for Christmas.

These can be left at any Post Office in Portadown, Lurgan, Craigavon and Tandragee until the Friday December 20 deadline, and they will be collected and distributed to the relevant families.

Said convenor Eddie Drury, “The people of the area always donate generously to the appeal and we know this year will be like the rest, despite the recession. It’s a worthwhile cause.”
