A postwoman from Bath will feature in a national TV ad tonight.

Sophie Chadwick from Oldfield Park was one of 25 workers from across the country chosen from 2,500 who applied to be in a Christmas version of a new Royal Mail advertising campaign.

The firm has already launched its first major TV advertising campaign in six years, featuring its official choir, which is drawn from workers in Bristol and Bath.

The adverts celebrate the role Royal Mail’s staff play in delivering a billion parcels a year, with the choir singing The Beatles’ classic All You Need Is Love.

Sophie, 45, who is based at the Bath Delivery Office at Railway Place, is starring in an advert to be shown during tonight’s A Mother’s Son on ITV.

Sophie was selected after auditioning in front of a judging panel of film producers and directors.

She has worked for Royal Mail in different roles for 12 years and said: “I’m extremely proud to work for the Royal Mail – my job is extremely rewarding and there’s nothing better than seeing a customer receive a much-awaited parcel. Making the ad was an amazing, completely novel experience and I would love to do it again.”

The 30-second commercial aims to show the care and commitment taken by Royal Mail’s people to deliver parcels to addresses across the UK no matter the weather, as well as the joy people receive when they get their parcels.
