A POST box in Ashbourne has been sealed up after Royal Mail bosses deemed it ‘no longer fit for purpose’.

The box, near to the junction of Windmill Lane and Buxton Road, will be replaced once planning permission has been sought.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “We intend to seek planning permission to replace the existing postbox which is set into a garden wall with a pedestal postbox on the other side of the road.

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience.”
