Royal Mail tell government there is no need to get involved.

Just heard a news clip on radio 2 at 11.00 saying Royal Mail has informed the government there is no need to get involved as regards the current postal dispute.

Why ???? Seems very dodgy.Is that because the government will then have to reveal their annual results, which they should have at the end of June and didnt.Then the public, the government and the workers will know there is PLENTY of money available and the company is doing very well financially.

Seems with this announcement notice is finally starting to be taken and I feel the government WILL intervene soon.And we wont get shafted as much as what RM wants.Hopefully the later starts (which I aint happy with) will be replaced back to the norm.

Why cant the government (after all we are still a public service) poll the public and if the public are happy for the later starts then so be it.If not then listen to them and drivers will have to start earlier and machnery involved also.

Am I on the right wavelength here with the rest of yous or am I off here?

RM could be playing with fire with this 'leave it to us, don't get involved Brown cause it's not YOUR buisness' approach.
The PM said yesterday the situation was unacceptable which i take to mean he wants the company and the union to give a bit and end the dispute. Yeah right well it's the company that needs to give as we know. Is Brown a socialist????

also i'll prefer the later starts and obviously some won't - better option wd be to make them voluntary - most wd go for it anyway probablly

I am suprised that nobody seems to have questioned why there is widespread panic within Royal mail at implementing later start times that are being driven by a European directive that slows an eigteen wheeler by four miles an hour.

Well, seeing as the government are unwilling to offer a referendum on the EU 'constitution' it seems unlikely that they'll go down that road.

It's obvious there must be pressure getting applied on AL and AC by Brown's minions or spin doctors and this will frighten the shite out of our leaders.

If the government get involved then the two of them have failed and their P45 will follow failry quickly to allow new top management to lead a reconciliation process.

So the gruseome twosome have got to tough it out and show they can handle it and destroy the union. Well, we ain't going to let them and I really feel that if the tide hasn't turned yet that very deep currents are starting to run in our favour. There is more balanced press reporting - some of the guys and gals on the picket lines are coming across great and to be honest it's better to have that kind of media exposure than the wooden speak from union faces who are very constrained in what they can say.

We really have to attack the lies on flexibility being peddled by the company as they have clearly identified that as the battlegound on which they will try and win media and public sympathy and support.

Let's keep drumming it in at every opportunity - We work to live not live to work! This right to choose is a basic human right in a developed western society which allegedly has legislation to protect workers rights although the agency staff hirings show how weak it is.

So, what's new - we hold our destiny and future in our own hands and by keeping the faith - We shall overcome!
