Royal Mail will be opening 10 temporary sort centres for the third consecutive peak to help sort the forecast high volume of parcels. The carrier, which is preparing for its listing on the London Stock Exchange next week, is hoping to recruit 4,000 workers for facilities in Motherwell, Livingston, Heywood, Swindon, Leeds, Greenford, Peterborough, Northampton, Tamworth, and Llantrisant in south Wales. The sites are scheduled to open on a phased basis beginning 4 November

I am sure this can be done at the mail centres we have now,opening up these hubs must be a security nightmare,a lot of people not getting their pressies again this year

It's an old story but I'll tell it again. Was sent to do a weeks nightshift at one of these places, within a couple of hours we were called to a huddle by the clipboard jockey. He told us that MORE packaging from mobile phones had been found behind the radiators and blocking toilets and that he'd be searching folk on their way out. Never happened. A lot of the casuals only worked when a manager was on the prowl, preferring to play on their phones instead.
