HOME-grown artistic and literary talent is being celebrated at a village post office.
Hawarden’s Got Talent features paintings, prints, ceramics, and textiles, along with fiction and historical writing from artists and writers living in the village.
Postmistress Gaye Bellis said with so many visitors passing through, many from overseas, a display of local work had seemed a good idea.
She said the Gladstone Library was a particular draw and it was not uncommon to have visitors from as far away as New Zealand, Australia and Canada passing through, as well as those from the UK.
“We thought we should let people see what’s happening here in Hawarden,” she said.
Originals and prints of local scenes from watercolourist Gordon Wilkinson are available to buy while other local painters featured include Karen De Ryche, Phil Jones and Gaynor Wills.
There is also work by ceramicist Kirsti Hannah Brown and bag maker Anne Lawson.
And for those wanting to know more about the village the Saxons called Haordine, there are the volumes on Hawarden and Mold by Archdeacon Bill Pritchard.
Fiction lovers can also find original historical work by writer Penny Wareing.
Hawarden’s Got Talent is running for a limited time at the post Office on The Highway near the fountain crossroads.
The post office is open from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
