Depot parking not first class

AS a resident of Blythe Street and neighbour of the Royal Mail sorting depot, I feel compelled to write to highlight the recent anti-social issues emanating from the depot.

The parking issue has become a joke, cars being dumped so people can 'just pop in' to fetch stuff, cars illegally parked on kerbs (not very considerate when trying push a child's buggy around), double parking, and recently driveways of residents blocked by parked cars.
Recently we have had alarms on the buildings going off at 2.20am and 4am on a Saturday morning, waking everybody up within earshot. The excuses as to why the alarms have not been turned off range from 'I don't know how to turn them off' to 'they turn themselves off after 20 minutes'.

Add to this the wagons that pound up and down the street over the speed humps making potholes in the road bigger, wider and deeper and yet to be repaired.

When, as residents, we have tried to ask the post office about these issues the response from management has been deafening, so by highlighting this in the paper hopefully somebody might be willing to try and address some of the issues raised.
Annoyed of Blythe Street.

Editor's Note: In reply Royal Mail spokesman Rhys Jones said: "Royal Mail has many operational offices located in residential areas around the UK and is committed to respecting the residential areas in which we operate. We would like to apologise to any residents on Blythe Street who have been impacted by our activity – and will be issuing a reminder to all colleagues and visitors to our delivery office on Blythe Street to respect our neighbours at all times in conducting their business."

But maybe if, as residents, they decided to ask Royal Mail about these issues the response just might not be quite so deafening. :Very Happy
