Postal workers in Weston-super-Mare have agreed to go on strike for the first time in 20 years.
Staff said it was over cuts and being asked to cover sickness and absenteeism.
On Tuesday morning, members of the Communication Workers Union said they would stage a series of one day strikes beginning in August.

Does anybody know how bad it is there?
It appears just about every office is under the cosh due to lack of man/woman power, so what has pushed W-S-M over the edge?

Perhaps W-S-M are now getting the same s**t that sent Bridgewater out on strike. After all, they're only 20 odd miles apartRudolph_Hucker wrote:Does anybody know how bad it is there?

Royal mails attitude is deteriorating as we get closer to privatisation and pressure tells, I would imagine alot more offices will be out by Christmas if there is no national walk out, senior managers need a reality check, what they are up to should be classed as a scandal. Cheating the public out of a fantastic service to line the pockets of fat cats!! It's a disgrace and my blood is boiling

I did wonder if the proximately of the offices was more than a coincidence!Pinky 1 wrote:Perhaps W-S-M are now getting the same s**t that sent Bridgewater out on strike. After all, they're only 20 odd miles apartRudolph_Hucker wrote:Does anybody know how bad it is there?

Friends in offices get chatting, the word spreads and hey presto.
I was wondering say, how many rounds are being lapsed? Four, five, more, less, all dependent on the size of the office.

Stayed with a friend there for a week last year, i assumed the revision had only just gone in as i regularly saw managers out delivering past 5pm, My friend wasn't getting his mail till 7-8pm (this isn't just hearsay, i was there)Rudolph_Hucker wrote:Does anybody know how bad it is there?

I know people that work there,it is as bad as you'd imagine.
A new manager from outside royal mail, previous experience in one of the top supermarkets.
It has always had a very bad management team, mostly because they are all failed postpeople with no managment skills.
I've heard enough stories about whats going on there to know its not a happy place to work.
But then again it seems to be the norm everywhere now.
One of the many reasons why I left.

No, but I know how bad that place is as I know friends that worked for the big A!Sidley wrote:This supermarket doesn't begin with an A does it?
It's a sign of how Royal Mail view the job, outside people who have no experience of deliveries just doesn't work.
Sad to say this is the way the job has gone .
