RESIDENTS who live in Fishponds, Downend and Mangotsfield may see their post go undelivered after postal workers voted to strike.
Staff at the Royal Mail delivery depot in Station Road, Fishponds voted for strike action yesterday, in response to changes to delivery rounds that have been made by managers.
A 73 per cent return saw 30 "Yes" votes with 23 people voting "No".
A meeting will be held outside the depot tomorrow morning to agree the next steps.
But strike action will need to be held within four weeks for the ballot to remain valid in the event the issue is not resolved.
Communication Workers Union Bristol area official David Wilshire, above, said: "Local managers have been in denial that there would be a 'yes' vote in this ballot.
"They now need to wake up and realise that there is a very real possibility of strike action, should they not be prepared to talk seriously about a resolution to this dispute".
Mail is delivered to the BS16 postcode area of Bristol from the depot, including Fishponds, Frenchay, Downend, Staple Hill, Mangotsfield and Emersons Green.
Mr Wilshire previously told the Bristol Post that the dispute centred on "unworkable changes to delivery patterns" and what staff saw as a refusal to honour an agreement for increased annual leave opportunities.
He said workers at other depots in the city could follow suit.
Postal workers at the Mead Street depot in Bedminster, which serves the BS4 and BS14 postcodes, held two 24-hour strikes in December last year over a dispute about workloads and claims of bullying.

The national strike action will supersede all this sort of action however when this happens it takes it out of local reps control.

Your assuming that there will be a yes vote, I've yet to speak to anybody in my unit ( except for the rep ) who said they would vote "Yes", all the others have pointed to the last agreement and said that they ain't going out again for another SH** Agreement.Red Robbo wrote:The national strike action will supersede all this sort of action however when this happens it takes it out of local reps control.

30 to 23 is hardly a resounding endorsement of strike action.
Especially with about 10 not voting.
You can only hope that those 23 (33?) accept the democratic decision and don't decide to cross the picket line.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
