ANSWERS on whether Royal Mail staff will ballot on strike action are expected on Thursday.

Union chiefs were set to find out whether bosses had met their demands after discussions between the two parties earlier this week.

Unions are concerned about a number of issues surrounding working conditions in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

Up in Coventry, 10 delivery offices could be taking action over accusations that Royal Mail chiefs have broken key elements of the Business Transformation agreement.

These alleged breaches include the taking of executive action, failure to abide by the terms of the Pay and Modernisation agreement, the IR Framework, Weekly Resourcing Meeting Guidelines and Setting Indoor Performance, Bob explains...

Mick Kavanagh, from the Communication Workers Union, said a 'minor' agreement had been made in the meetings - over unagreed 'lapses' of duties - but if an agreement was not hammered out then a ballot would be taken early next week.

A spokesperson for Royal Mail confirmed a meeting had taken place and added: "We are aware of the issues raised by the Communication Workers Union over working hours and pay.

"All mail is being handled normally and services are unaffected.”
