As the Government plans a Royal Mail flotation, management offers 125,000 staff annual bonuses and a three-year pay deal.
The Royal Mail has made a three-year pay offer to around 125,000 employees, which includes a lump sum benefit and annual bonuses.
The iconic and historic business, which the Government hopes to see privatised, said the deal would increase base rates by 8.6%.
A lump sum of £300 would also be paid in December, as well as new incentive arrangements including a minimum £100 bonus, payable at the end of each year.
The Royal Mail said it also wanted a "new model" for the company to work together with the Communication Workers Union (CWU).
Moya Greene, chief executive of the Royal Mail Group, said: "Co-operation is central to the future success of the company.
"This offer represents Royal Mail's commitment to a long-term engagement strategy with the CWU and with our people.
"We have already built a stronger Royal Mail together through closer co-operation and trust in recent years. We are now offering a new long-term agreement with the CWU and our employees.
"This is a good deal - good for Royal Mail and good for our people. We are asking the CWU and our people to accept this new agreement.
Ms Greene added: "There will be further discussions this week with the CWU about the proposed agreement."
A statement said terms and conditions in the proposed agreement would not be affected by any change in ownership of the company as the Government presses ahead with plans to privatise the Royal Mail.
The proposed deal does not apply to staff in post offices.

The basic increase in year one, backdated to April, would be 2.6 per cent – close to the median 2.5 per cent at which pay settlements have been running across the economy, according to Incomes Data Services, the pay analyst. Rises in years two and three would be 3 per cent and 2.8 per cent.

I can't be the only one who feels that this is mostly the money we are going to get in December anyway, can I? With the Christmas bonus and the colleague shares we were going to get £200 anyway! ! So Moya go back to the drawing board and maybe spread the wealth, instead of maximising your pension.

I don't want any bonuses beyond what we have already agreed to. Since I joined Bonuses have always been used as a sop or a sweetener, never have all of us got all of them, and never have they failed to move the goal posts just before payout was due/expected.iceman1277 wrote:any bonus we want it now not in decemberEl-Bandito wrote:I can't be the only one who feels that this is mostly the money we are going to get in December anyway, can I? Re: Royal Mail In Pay And Bonus Offer To Staff
Talking to many walking Postmen and woman ,Pay is not at their forefront of concerns nor are Bonuses. The NO 1 priority to many is decent and tolerable working conditions ,which both the Union and RM continue to ignore, lets not forget we are in a mess now due to Billy and Dave and the then head of TUC Brendan Barber calling off our last national strike which have given many walking Postmen and woman exceptionally large rounds and pressurised working conditions.
When was the last time any of the above 3 ever did a walk or listened to the frontline staff, pay is not a serious issue nor was it to our office during the last national strike
it was working conditions imposed upon us by RM which in turn gives the public a lot worse service.
Billy and Dave need to wake up and smell the coffee ,many local and area reps are doing a great job but being let down by out of touch union leaders and a bullying style Management ,that has no idea how to plan routes and waste thousands of pounds planning failure as they fail to listen to staff or take staff concerns on board.
JUST MY THOUGHTS

Re: Royal Mail In Pay And Bonus Offer To Staff
This is an "offer" from RM, correct?.
Any information on the shorter working week, as proposed over 3 years ago?
Or the majority of Delivery offices having 75% Full Time workers, as proposed over 3 years ago??
Or more Saturdays off, as agreed over 3 years ago?
Anything that states LESS Harassment by management as proposed over 3 years ago??
Anything that states you can book a day in lieu several months in advance, and maybe get it?
