Alan Duncan, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, has demanded a categorical assurance from Billy Hayes, the General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union that they will not do anything that will in any way impede the process of an election.

Mr Duncan said:

"I asked them to give an unqualified assurance that no industrial action of any sort will be taken during the period of a general election.

"I seek their cast iron guarantee that all leaflets will be delivered and all postal votes handled without interruption of any sort. It would not be acceptable for the union to thwart the democratic process."

if they give us back all the money they took off Royal Mail during the 17 year pension holiday at the bequest of the then conservative Goverment and the further £1.25 billion raided from our pensions by the current goverment that was due for our pensions ... then and only then should we not disrupt the election unless they also refuse to pay us to deliver said election material .... until then ..... they can GTF
