The bbc have your say.

Post by plodsie »

We are all dinosaurs apparently, most people don't use us anyway, and we're shooting ourselves in the foot.
We should get another job or be sacked. Most will use other companies for their mail services, forgetting that we will be delivering it anyway and which seems to be late all the time. Some people really are pathetic. THEY DESERVE THE SERVICE OUR MANAGERS WANT THEM TO GET!
Glasgow driver.

Q. Who exactly are the Competition?
A. People who'll post a letter for you.

its just what they read or see in the papers and tv,,.

they seem to think that we are being greedy by wanting more then 2.5% pay rise,it wouldnt bother me if i didnt get a pay rise at all...but thats the feeling of those who believe all the bullshit they read..

f**k em let them get thier parcels delivered by tnt or whoever..and then let them moan about the shitty prices and service they get from the other companies..

It's actually pretty pathetic isn't it? They're not getting what they think is enough money so they don't get into work and make a big fuss about it. If I did that, I'd probably get fired. If any of them lose their job because of this, they may well deserve to.

Who cares about public opinion anyway..theyre so far removed from the real issues theyre not even worth considering...
Leighton has brushed the average member of the public aside with a degree of contempt only equal to that of Hitler or Stalin...

Strikes over Christmas pressure will win this dispute if nothing else does...lets see if Leighton is such a big man then eh?

Not only are they hurting themselves in the long run, they're also hurting hundreds, maybe even thousands of businesses. In a job that carries such resonsibility, these people need to realise that they could be putting other people out of work and hurting a lot of families around the country.

Shame on you postmen. Selfishness of this degree is what makes our country such a cesspit.

Also I reckon the BBC are as biased in the comments they select as they are in their coverage. They're one of the most right wing TV channels out there.

All I know is that in my work place there is a lot of support for you guys, and I can't imagine where I work is different than most other places in terms of the make up of people.

"They do a good job, a job most of us cannot do

VIv, Wolverhapmton"

What getting up early and carry a bag, possibly with the addition of driving or riding a bike suddenly became complicated did it?!!

I think you'll find most of us have done the job at some point in our lives, only we were 10 and were called paperboys.

What is scary to see is how easily the public are being duped into a number of things here. Most seem to be unaware of what the dispute is about. It seems the majority of the responses are from people who haven't got a clue about the job nor what has been going on recently in regards to the mismanagement over the years, the uneven 'competition' or what happened to our Pension Fund.
Secondly, judging by the responses at the BBC, they have swallowed hook, line and sinker all the propaganda they've recieved over the years. . They seem to think, and this has come across in many a news article too, that this is the last stand for unions in general. If they can forget about the history behind employee rights being fought for by collectives on their behalf so easily, perhaps it won't be so hard to tell them that the Holocaust never happened....Sheesh! If it is so, we can kiss goodbye to any hope of a decent future for ourselves or or kin. We'd be handing all power back into the hands of people who have proven over and over again that they cannot be trusted with it.
It will be interesting to see these same professional 'moaners' writing to the BBC in years to come, complaining about the fact that they cannot send they're Birthday Cards to their grandkids in the Isle of Skye for less than £20 these days and how they miss their old postie and how they were right behind them during the great strike of '07....pfft!
All or nothing? That phrase seems to be very apt for the position we find ourselves in...
