Dear Colleague
Network 2007 Executive Action - Industrial Action
You will be aware that the business have formally stated that they are to take Executive Action on their Network 2007 proposals on the 22nd October 2007. In view of the fact that we are still unable to reach a settlement to the current dispute we clearly need to consider the most appropriate response/action that we should take if these proposals are introduced without agreement.
I have already received a number of requests for Local Ballots in relation to the duty proposals that have been received and although these have been cleared by the Executive our view is that Network 2007 is included in the National Dispute therefore additional Local Ballots should not be necessary. The principle issue that we currently have is to ensure that we plan the most effective Industrial Action to disrupt the business deploying their revisions.
The impact of the proposals differ considerably from area to area therefore to assist the Postal Executive in their considerations I would appreciate your views on which type of Action you feel would be most affective in your area to negate the changes. Please keep your responses brief and reply by email in view of the short timescale available and the current Industrial Action taking place over the next 4-5 days:
For example - All out Action, 24 hours each week, a strike each weekend, 2 hours on the end of each shift etc.
Yours sincerely
MARTIN COLLINS
